The Challenge
How does the organization
ensure that it is adequately managing compliance with EHS regulatory requirements?
What We Believe
With all the talk of regulatory "reinvention", one would think that the need
for attention to compliance management is going away. In reality, regulatory requirements
will continue to be the bottom line for many organizations, even as they work toward more
progressive management systems. ISO 14001 specifically requires that the organization
commit to compliance with applicable regulations.
We believe that the compliance assessment process will continue to be an important
component of any EHS Management System. It simply needs to be refocused:
 | Use pre-operational assessment as a means of identifying important regulatory and other
requirements before new processes or equipment are put into operation. |
 | Use on-going assessments as a development tool for operations personnel (remove negative aspects of assessments
from the process). |
 | Shift the focus of assessment findings from specific
regulatory details to examination of the root causes for the deficiencies and development
of management system corrective actions. |
How We Can Help
 | Design of assessment
protocols customized to your goals and resources. |
 | Training internal EHS assessment staff. |
 | Conduct pre-operational assessments of new processes and
equipment. |
 | EHS Compliance Management Assessment Tool-
A computer-based application consisting of a set of assessment questions linked to defined
Compliance Management Categories. Assessor determines the Level of Implementation from a
predefined and scored (1-5) selection for each question. Includes regulatory references,
ability to document findings, printed reports, follow-up. |
 | Independent EHS
Assessments- For those who need outside (independent) assessors of compliance management,
we provide project management and direction, using your protocol or ours. The assessment
team is selected from our teaming partners from consulting organizations around the
country, based on experience in special regulatory areas and your industry. The team is
managed by EHSMP, which is also responsible for final report production and
budget/schedule management. |
